The Federated States of Micronesia is an independent nation consisting
of over 600 islands spread out over 1,000,000 square miles (2,600,000
square kilometers) of the Pacific Ocean. The area was claimed by Spain,
sold to Germany in 1889, conquered by Japan in World War I, taken by
the United States in World War II, and finally became fully independent
in 1986. It uses United States dollar as its currency. This unofficial
2012 eight coin set includes the 1 Cent to the 5 Dollar.
