BONAIRE is a Caribbean state was member of the Netherlands Antilles, which was dissolved in 2010. This eight coin set includes a 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 Cent, 1 Dollar, a bimetallic 2 1/2 Dollar and a bimetallic 5 Dollar coin. After the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles, they adopted the U.S. Dollar as their currency. Netherlands Queen Beatrix, along with the name and arms of the island is on the obverse of all the coins. The Bonaire coins feature native plants.

For hundreds of years Bonaire was primarily a plantation, first for the Dutch West Indies government, later the Dutch government, then for two large private landowners. Its first hotel opened in 1946, utilizing the buildings from a World War II internment camp. Today its economy is based primarily on tourism, due to its excellent scuba diving and wind surfing.
