UNUSUAL BI-METAL SILVER COINS

BI-METAL SILVER PROOF COIN

This unusual silver and copper Proof bimetallic coin from Mongolia commemorates Thomas Alva Edison.  Three of his inventions, a lightbulb, a telephone and a phonograph, are featured on one side of the 1999 500 Tugruk coin.  The Mongolian arms and the denomination are on the other.  The coin features a square copper center surrounded by a sterling silver ring.  The 38mm coin has a mintage of only 2500 pieces.
