Cabinda is a former Portuguese colony on the west coast of Africa. It declared independence in August 1975, and in December of that year it was invaded by Marxist troops from Angola. Since then there has been an on-going civil war. Because of its vast oil reserves, it seems unlikely Angola will allow Cabinda its freedom. That has not stopped someone making these unofficial coins for Cabinda.
